New orders for construction in the three months to January 2008 fell by 12 per cent compared with the previous three months and in year-on-year figures, it fell 20 per cent, figures from the Office for National Statistics has released. In the three months to January 2009, private house building orders fell by 55 per cent from the same period a year earlier, which public and housing association housing orders fell by 45 per cent.
