The Bank of England reported this morning that the number of new home loans agreed in November fell to the lowest level since records began a decade ago with just 27,000 mortgage approved for the month. In monetary terms, mortgage lending rose by £740 million in November, but this was less than a tenth of the amount seen in November 2007. Lenders are expected to further rein in the availability of loans in this quarter.
